The red barn space is so serene and welcoming, I am immediately struck with the invitation for creativity as I drive in. The workshops themselves are safety conscious, professional and there is a pure invitation to create from beginning to end. I highly recommend this creative opportunity.

I love the place, I love the space, I love the pace and the grace I find within myself when I am there. It’s a place to play, to work, to experiment without judgement and without watching the watch. There is a power field that happens when we have gathered together to create in these workshops. We seem to move each other along. The workshops provide permission to be free, to be loose, to make mistakes and just ‘start over’. It’s an opportunity to try new things, to see with our own eyes. The creativity I find in Susan’s workshops spill over into my home, my family and my professional life, making everything more colorful and fun!

I have been to two workshops at Red Barn Studios this last year, and hope to be able to make it to at least two every year! Susan and Mike work together so well to form a creative learning experience that is energizing, and at the same time very relaxing. A wonderfully supportive atmosphere in beautiful surroundings (and the food is great too!!)

There is just something about the hands on process of making art that brings some real healing to what “ails” one! I came home refreshed and ready to play. Thank you for a wonderful day with you in your studio and home, you made us all feel so welcome and special, it was really fun

I could not have asked for a more perfect day- beautiful surroundings, unlimited materials, and inspiring people, loved being outside, perfect size group, the best part was your help, encouragement and kindness. The lunch was awesome! I am still thinking about the salad! Yum! It was just right!

Susan is such a gentle, encouraging teacher. She empowers the natural artist in each of us. We had the freedom to explore and the lunch was exquisite!

I loved the whole experience from the moment I arrived. You so lovingly welcomed and greeted everyone. During the meditation “open the door to your heart”, stuck like hot glue, loved all the stories and words that created beautiful pictures in my mind, just being still is so releasing and re-energizing. The yurt experience was beautiful. I just love the strong, grounded woman figure I created, everything came together for me. Lunch was sublime, the essence of the house, the table setting, the food presentation and taste experience. I will always remember this truly wonderful day.

Thank you so much for sharing your amazing home, studio, yurt and your amazing talent. I loved it all! It was inspirational and enlightening, can’t wait to share another creative adventure in the future!

It is hard to say what the best part of the workshop was because everything was perfect! But maybe the art part and the environment I would like a little more time for the closing meditation in the yurt

I. Dina

Having the items around the stuidio, like finished art pieces and doll heads provided inspiration. There is nothing I would change.  I loved the positive attitudes of everyone involved, studio atmosphere was conducive to creativity, meditation helped to connect me to my creative muse, salad and cookies were best I have ever had!

“I loved this article [link]. Susan is AWESOME in so many ways. Even though I have never had the great fortune of attending any of her Red Barn Studios offerings, each time I am in their beautiful environment I have felt nurtured and inspired by the creativity that is integrated into every aspect of their Studio and home. What a treat for all who have the blessing of attending. Susan is definitely as you have said… nurturing, open and without pressure to perform… excited to allow the creativity to unfold. Lucky for all of you who do get to participate. It’s not only what you create but also the process and experience of being in their creative, inspiring environment that stays with you.
Thank you Michelle Carl  for writing such a lovely article. I hope to attend one day too.”
