Immerse yourself in the warm spirit of summer during two days of playful art-making under the oak trees. We will explore working with clay (handbuilding, glazing, firing, making 3-dimensional pieces), copper enameling (powdered glass of various colors applied to copper pieces and fired in an enameling kiln), batik (the ancient art of applying wax and dye to fabric), and shibori (Japanese resist dye) techniques. Both days include a delicious, nourishing lunch that we will enjoy outdoors near the peaceful creek.
Workshop will be led by Susan Tonkin Riegel, M.A., (artist and former professor at Sierra College, facilitator at Red Barn Studios). Mike Riegel, (artist and professor emeritus C.S.U.S.) will be teaching the technique of copper enameling.
