using creativity as a means of self discovery

February 6 & 7, 2016
Saturday 9:30 – 3:30 + Sunday 9:30 – 12

In this workshop we will explore the expressive art of collage using the mobile as a form. Straw, bits of thread and paper were the materials used to make the beautiful mobiles found in Europe, most common in Scandinavia. Mobiles were made for simple enjoyment and they were also said to keep burglars away from the home. A mobile is suspended from a single point and is made up of several shapes which revolve independently with even the faintest currents of air.

As the new year unfolds, making mobiles will help us to set intentions for the time ahead and find a creative way to balance those intentions. We will begin our day in the yurt on Saturday with a grounding meditation to connect us to our creative selves. We will then go into the studio and collage shapes using fragments of magazines, fabric, thread, buttons, beads, paint and wire. We will add text to these shapes to state our intentions. On Sunday we will assemble all of our collaged parts into a cohesive mobile and close with a short meditation to conclude our meaningful time together. We will take home our beautiful creations and have the opportunity to enjoy their magical qualities throughout 2016 and beyond.

All materials will be included as well as a delicious, healthy lunch. No experience necessary. $165
